August’s theme is “going green” but not on the golf course…the drought carries on.
Instead we’ve had the chance to demo the new electric Jacobsen pedestrian cylinder mower — and yes, it’s every bit as smooth and quiet as you’d expect. Even as a demo model, it’s been impressive. Clean cut, no fumes, barely any noise, and a completely different feel compared to traditional petrol machines.
You’ll also see the hand-mown tee in the second photo, which really shows the level of finish we’re aiming for. Bringing electric equipment into the mix — even on trial — fits perfectly with where we want the club to head: a more sustainable, modern, environmentally responsible future.
Going electric reduces emissions, drops fuel use, and cuts down on noise pollution, the clubs ambition is to become GEO certified, and this machine and others a like will be the way to do it. It’s better for the environment, better for the team using the equipment, and ultimately better for the club long-term. Even this demo has shown what’s possible and how much greener we can be without compromising on quality.
Small steps, big difference. And in other news – The course may be crispy, but the greens are dialling in their colour nicely — proof that renovation season really does pay off.
